circus love

to supplement posting, as i'm in progress on multiple projects, i figured i'd post up the work of the two designers i graduated with at the circus back in may. and since this blog has my name at the top, i'm including shots of my wicked modeling skills that appear in their books, for your entertainment.

right now ashley is in her hometown of sugarland, texas, moments away from the perfect agency snatching her up.

jaci is now working in atlanta at the reynolds group, getting married in 2 weeks.

the most ridiculous keyboard shortcut

by far: ⌥⌘B (show all bookmarks in safari)

it's very uncomfortable, and look at that. my hand looks ridiculous. {and no i don't want to bring my right hand in for support on this one, though that'd clearly be one of many obvious solutions.}

rabbit pillows

I drew this jumping rabbit back in grad school for the Dainties project, and my talented mama repurposed the artwork quite nicely in this super cute pillow.

our wedding invitations

I almost forgot the agony of creating these until I started sorting through them. We don't have any formal shots of the finished product yet, but here's evidence that we made them ourselves.

It's a little booklet with a faux bois cover (see our faces in the knot?) Inside is the formal invitation, an illustrated map to the location in monroe, and response card postcards. out-of-towners got another postcard attached to information about hotels and the rehearsal dinner cookout. And with all that being said, I promise more and better photos.

Designed/illustrated by me, letterpressed by KC & me at Praxium Press with Mr. Berwyn Hung's help. Plates made by Owosso Graphic Arts. Paper from Mac Papers and Paper Source. Tied, stuffed, and stamped by my family.

anthropologie's "adorn"

if you know me, clearly anthropologie is one of my influences. i don't know a designer that doesn't love the the catalogs, merchandise and in-store experiences. their site is pretty, but the content, not the bones is what really makes it pop.
so when i saw this post on oh joy! today, i got really excited. and for good reason: 5 new sections devoted to accessories. each has a completely different look, navigation, layout. but they are all super cool.

i love that their team branched out to try something new. to experiment with fun stuff. design that really gets the user to interact with the merchandise.

jackie hall designs

This weekend I finished up the website for a good designer friend of mine, Jackie Hall. Jackie's graduating from the Circus in less than 2 weeks and moving to Jacksonville. Her work is great. Enjoy.

I did the Flash animation on the homepage using her identity and used Dreamweaver + SimpleViewer to set up the portfolio sections.

refrigerator art + postcards

{you can click the photos to view them large}

After a two month hiatus, I've been eager to post up some of the stuff I've been working on. This was a quick project a did couple months ago for some long-time friends of mine. Katie, Kaylee, and Laura spent their summer overseas doing mission work and wanted a postcard to send to their supporters. You can check out their stories and photos Katie and Kaylee's blogs.

I wish I could say I drew that cat on the fridge, but it was magnificently illustrated by one Jonathan Hanks.
