recent features

We've been featured on wedding blogs a couple times in the past few days. I hope that other brides will be inspired by some of the little things we did. Here are a few screenshots.

thank you cards

Thank You Cards
I used some black and whites portraits from the wedding and printed the design in fun bright colors. They don't match the rest of the style I used for wedding stuff, except in the colors of the cards & envelopes.
Thank You Cards

Oh wait. You didn't get yours? It's coming. We're busy. And slow.

Thanks to KC for the photos.

signs and programs

Church Fan Style Programs
Instead of programs we had church style fans. I think the guests appreciated them, sitting in the middle of a field in the august sun. I designed them in the same style as the invitations with, my fave, 2 sheep at the top.

KC, Pete, and I made these signs for the wedding. After this photo was taken, the girls and I attached a bunch of white balloons to it so that it looked like I was holding them.

Thanks to Kyle Hale for the 1st & 3rd photos and KC for the middle shot.

our wedding invitations

I almost forgot the agony of creating these until I started sorting through them. We don't have any formal shots of the finished product yet, but here's evidence that we made them ourselves.

It's a little booklet with a faux bois cover (see our faces in the knot?) Inside is the formal invitation, an illustrated map to the location in monroe, and response card postcards. out-of-towners got another postcard attached to information about hotels and the rehearsal dinner cookout. And with all that being said, I promise more and better photos.

Designed/illustrated by me, letterpressed by KC & me at Praxium Press with Mr. Berwyn Hung's help. Plates made by Owosso Graphic Arts. Paper from Mac Papers and Paper Source. Tied, stuffed, and stamped by my family.

"tanks" thank you cards

Last Saturday Pete & Gloria threw KC & I an awesome shower. We had a great time, and I really loved seeing everyone together. I designed (and wrote the line, yesssss) these super-precious thank you cards.
Special thank to Pete & Glo. They have taken such great care of KC & I during our entire engagement. We love them so much, and they really know how to throw a sweet party.

and,  just for good measure, here's a picture of my hot hubbie-to-be playing with our new toys:

reception location

click it : you should really view it larger.
I've been dreaming of this tent since the day I got my February '08 Anthropologie catalog... so much so that it's actually our inspiration for our wedding reception. It's beautiful and impractical and over the top and as Pete put it, very "Billy Madison." I'd live in it if I could.

p.s. I created our wedding blog today. It's not much yet, but we'll be posting info about the wedding soon.

Charleston

This weekend KC & I went to Charleston to visit my friend Jackie's tea plantation (above). We were able to stay the whole weekend, for our first vacation in a couple of years.

Wedding Inspiration : Mélangerie Inc.

I haven't been super impressed by or excited about the majority of the wedding invitations I've seen- so many of them are really beautiful, but they just don't feel right for us. And the ones I do like I'm struggling to take inspiration from because of how far out of our budget they are.

But I came across these this morning from Mélangerie Inc.:

Here's what the ladies of Mélangerie had to say about it:

Julie & Jake’s Wedding

Julie and Jake met through a series of fortuitous events, which inspired us to base their wedding event identity on the concept of time. Their New Year’s Eve nuptials are announced through this accordion folded invitation. Illustrious clocks and pertinent information are silk-screened onto deep chocolate cover stock.

Also featured here is a gift for Jake & Julie’s guests: a mix CD of the bride and groom’s favorite songs related to time. Other event details we have designed for Jake & Julie’s wedding include: New Year’s Resolution Cards that guests will fill out and have mailed back to them one year from the wedding date, as well as customized welcome gifts for guests’ hotel rooms.

Wedding Inspiration : J. Crew Dresses

How cute is this for a 4-year-old bridesmaid? Of course, these decisions depend on a lot of other things that need to come first, but I came across this today & couldn't resist. Yum. I'll take one for me too.

It's no secret that I have a thing for J. Crew... love these (and the yellow color):

& I'm not opposed to using pattern, if not in the dress, then in the accessories:
I'm sure our mothers would die, but how rad would it be to have a floral printed bridesmaid dress?
